Grinding Technology
Centres
These specialist centres in Germany and the USA are dedicated to the advancement
of grinding technology to help customers meet the demands of the future
through world class application engineering, advanced abrasive development,
the latest grinding technology and ongoing training as well as via strategic
alliances.
The centres incorporate
developments such as 'systems approach', where all parts of the grinding
system are utilised to influence the microscopic interaction of the process.
A centralised system, the European Technical Data Base (ETDB) also enables
the sharing of expertise and knowledge of grinding processes at a local
level.
FIS process analysis
The Saint Gobain Field Instrumentation System (FIS) is a portable tool designed
to monitor and measure the grinding process to provide accurate , comparable
information to help maximise performance.
FIS has been successfully used in all areas of grinding for the optimisation
of processes, cycle time reduction, tool life increases, machine and process
studies, investigations and benchmarking.
